- What does the front three-point hitch give us?
The three-point hitch, or TUZ, is a linkage system used to suspend and secure agricultural implements. The three-point hitch works with equipment such as tillage machines, maintenance machines, and seeding machines, significantly increasing the functionality of the tractor and enabling the performance of various types of work using a single machine.
The TUZ design is based on the introduction of a top link (one central fixed attachment point) and two lower links (right and left, symmetrically spaced below and connected to a hydraulic cylinder that raises or lowers them), which are on a common axis and are attached to the tractor frame. Simply put, the smooth operation of the TUZ depends on the hydraulic system of the tractor.
The mounting of equipment or agricultural machinery to the TUZ is carried out by attaching the ends of the top link and lower links to mounting points, on which hooks with latches are placed, through which the connection is made.
The function of the TUZ is the ability to easily and quickly attach various types of agricultural implements to the tractor, such as plows, disc harrows, tillage aggregates, seeders, mowers, spreaders, and rakes.
The TUZ is available in different variants, depending on the power of the tractor. Four categories can be distinguished: the first TUZ category is mounted on machines with power up to 62 HP, the second in tractors with power from 62 to 120 HP, the third concerns tractors with power from 120 to 240 HP, the fourth above 240 and less than 450 HP. In the case of TUZs in garden tractors with a smaller wheelbase, there are also intermediate categories – they are marked with the letter N.
Control of the three-point hitch can be mechanical or automatic, the range of maneuvering includes lifting, lowering, and lateral movements. A typical TUZ is mounted at the rear, however, it is also possible to mount it at the front, which allows two tasks to be performed simultaneously (for example, a mower can be attached to the front TUZ, a press that binds the cut hay can be attached to the rear). The front TUZ can also perform an additional practical function, for example, when additional ballast is mounted on it, it is possible to unload the front axle of the tractor, which prevents it from lifting.
